Looking at these photos, I'm astonished at how many of them feature food! What the monkey! We had a nice weekend. Re-entry, for the most part, feels good. Ask me that at the end of the day today, when we've survived the school/work day AND daylight savings, yo. Our drive down the mountain on Friday was stunning. The snow decreased as soon as we pulled out of the resort, but the valleys still had snow-laden fields. Once we hit the freeway, it was clear that the storm was more wind than snow, and there were trees toppled by the dozen, some with their uppermost branches brushing the roadside. I was craving salad, so Neel and I went out to grab a bite to eat while Callum stayed home Friday night. These guys were tired. As you can imagine.
Callum had baseball practice on Saturday. Mandatory practices for the end of the week if you were in town (and mandatory, no-excuse practices and a tournament for the varsity team), so we dropped him off at school and headed to the Indian grocery. Neel and I were in the mood for curry. I was really in the mood for palak paneer, but that takes forever to make from scratch so we got some frozen. Maybe next time. As far as the curry goes? The house still smells amazing.
Sunday was gorgeous here. Sunny and warm. Hard to believe that just a few days ago we were in 30 inches of snow! Neel got back in his yard and I got to work painting some backdrops for the studio. Something I've been meaning to do for ages. I knew I wanted to do a still life for my 365 photo yesterday, something to honor daylight savings and the longer, lighter days. A photographer's dream! So as I painted, I let my mind wander. By the time I got in the studio, I had plan. For once it worked out pretty much the way I imagined it, and that felt pretty good.
Slow-moving Sunday to start a fast moving week. Back at it today! I'll have a recap of our trip to the mountains tomorrow. I finally got a look at all the photos I took with the camera (not just the phone) yesterday, and I still can't believe ALL THAT SNOW!
I'm restless these days, so spring must be coming, right? Or is it the unexpected late night sun? Whatever the reason, I'm not sure I like it. How are you feeling these days, my lovelies? What does your week look like from where you're standing?

Mmmm mmm mmm palak paneer is one of my faves as well but I haven't even tried to make it from scratch. I understand your restlessness. I feel like even though I moved, the day to day is still full of normal, everyday things and I want it to be full of FUN and EXCITING things. I know it's a little absurd to ask for that on a day to day basis but I really would like some of those BIG GOOD things to happen.
My favorite pic above is Neel and Callum working together on the fence. I'm glad the weekend worked for a bit of rest. Hope the re-entry Monday was not a killer,,,but then, how can it not be. My idea about food and thinking about it and taking pictures of it and cooking it is that food can bring some daily moments of joy in just about every household. Not that it has to be the only way...there are other kinds of joy. I can't remember even who the ad was for, I think Betty Crocker, "nothin' says lovin' like something from the oven." Do any of you young chicks remember that one? And finally, about restlessness. I don't know if it is about spring but I do know for me it usually precedes a burst of creativity or progress of some kind anyway. Maybe that's what's going on?
I love all the images of food, already did when you shared them on Instagram. I.Love.To.Eat! Palak Paneer is so delicious, I have never made it myself but sometimes buy it as a frozen dinner from TJ's for lunch at the office. Yeah, I am lazy like that ;) Looks like your men were busy around the house this weekend too. I am definitely feeling restless as well, already have a hard time to kick back and relax and now I feel like I need be busy at all times. And the changing of the clocks didn't help either. Now it's already 10:15pm and I do not feel like I could go to bed anytime soon..Argh...Hope you'll have a wonderful week Lauren! xx
Gosh, daylight savings has got me thrown off and really tired. However, I'm not complaining because I do love the extra light.
Yum, Indian food. This post reminds me that we don't eat it often enough. We've got a really great Indian restaurant right down the street from the house and there is always a line out the door. It's so good!
I've been feeling something lately too. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until you just named it. "Restless" sounds about right. My restlessness is stemming from having so many ideas swimming in my head and not knowing how to execute them. I'm mostly ok with this feeling and just trying to be patient. (You know I'm here if you need an ear.)
Can't wait to see more photos and read more about your snowy wonderland. xo
Oh man, paneer anything. I love paneer. Trader Joe's makes a surprisingly delicious frozen paneer dish for super cheap that I've been known to indulge in on more than one occasion. In Paris on Sunday we had Indian for dinner, and I got saag paneer, and the paneer was almost like cream cheese, it just melted in your mouth. I'd never had it like that before. It was amazing. ANYWAY, I second Nina's comment above that you can never have too many food shots! That's your thing after all, right? Right. I'm working backwards through your posts so I've already seen how much insane snow you guys guy, but wow! Thank goodness you guys made it home safely. xo
